Howl-o-weenie 2013

Before it gets any later, we wanted to tell you how our Howl-o-weenie went.

We kept it low key this year. We didn't put up any decorations, but we did get pumpkins. It's become our tradition for Aunt V to come over and carve pumpkins. But this year we didn't have a theme, so we left it up to Aunt V to decide what she wanted to carve.

Aunt V started on the pumpkins a couple days before Howl-o-ween. She said she would do our pumpkins first. But she didn't say what they were going to be. We did our job and we snoopervized.

She took all the pumpkin guts out. It was all gooey and slimy.

This is the first pumpkin she did. It's a Boston Terrier for Oakley!

And the second pumpkin was a Pug pumpkin for Swisher!

She said she made a mistake and forgot she was only going to carve one eye, so it could look more like Swish, but at least she got the curly tail down. Bol. We thought it came out good anyway.

Then on the Howl-o-ween day Mom put our costumes on and said we were gonna go walk around the mall. Can you tell what we are?

::intercome voice:: Paging Dr. Swisher and Dr. Oakley. Please come to the kitchen for a photograph. Dr. Swisher and Dr. Oakley, please come to the kitchen. ::end intercome voice::

 We're Doctors!
Swisher's costume is a Surgeon. Oakley is a Doctor with his lab coat on.

At the mall we met some furiends with four legs...

Some prehistoric furiends with two legs...

And this cute little lady bug who really liked us and wanted to keep petting us.

With all the walking and excitement and all the twizzlers that Swisher ate (Bol), he was pretty tired by the time we headed home. Mom took off our costumes, and let Swisher ride shotgun, and had the AC cooling him off in the front seat.
 Ahhhhhhh...

After we rested a while, Mom put our costumes back on and put the gate up and we waited for Aunt V and the trick or treaters. We never know how many kids are gonna come. Sometimes we get a lot, sometimes we barely get any.

But then Aunt V showed up and a bunch of kids started to come also.

The kids would say Trick or Treat and we would check out their costumes and help Mom pass out candy.

We saw the Hulk.

 And a friendly Vampire.

While Swisher was busy on trick-o-treaters watch...

Ok the kids are gone, can I have more twizzlers? Bol

...Aunt V was working on the rest of our pumpkins.
She carved 3 more.
A pumpkin scarecrow.

A San Jose Sharks fin.

And a sugar skull.

We got a few more trick or treaters... but it was getting later in the evening and we think all the kids had gone home by now. So we closed up shop.

Mom said for being such good helpers, she got us howl-o-ween bone cookies!

They were SO good!

And because we were good boys through the whole day, she even got us howl-o-ween toys!

It was a fun night. Sorry for the long post. We hope everyone had a fun and safe howl-o-ween!

Lots of licks,
Swisher and Oakley

Buzzed Boyz

So it all started with Mom saying my hind legs were growing mohawks. She kept telling Aunt V that she wanted to cut them. You can't tell Aunt V anything because then she'll do it and take it to the next level. More often than not, it's always something I wouldn't have wanted to do in the first place.

Mom says 'cut', and Aunt V turned it into, "let's buzz them!"

And them Mom was all for it. Gee thanks a lot Mom.

So they bought trimmers. Yeah, you can guess what happened next.

I was nervous at first. Those things made noise and were shaking all over the place. Who knows what it coulda done to my leg!

They finished my legs. It wasn't so bad. Didn't hurt. I behaved. Mom held me while Aunt V trimmed. Now my mohawks are gone, I'm done right? Wrong. Then I heard "he did better than expected. Well let's just trim everywhere."

The did my legs, my neck, my back, and under my chin.

I better have hair left when they're finished.

They finally finished with me. I was glad it was over. But I felt light, like some weight had been taken off. And itchy. Yeah I felt itchy. I ran around like a loco (crazy) and rolled all over the ground for a while. I was free!

Swish: Hey Mom, is it my turn?
Mom: Sure is!

The one who they thought was gonna be good during the haircut and not give them any trouble was Swish. But he proved them wrong. He wasn't scared, because that guy is not afraid of much (especially if he thinks he's gonna get treats after), but boy he was a wiggle worm.

Mom and Aunt V had to keep switching positions to try and get Swish to sit or stand still. His haircut time was a lot shorter. Hmm, maybe I should've tried that.

Swisher said that was fun. And he would do it again. He looks 5 lbs thinner and is ready for his treats!
Swisher: That was a piece of cake. Speaking of cake, I'll take cake for my treat!

I have a feeling we're not gonna escape other haircuts now that Mom and Aunt V own a pair of trimmers. But at least this way, I know what I'm in for.

Lots of licks,
Oakley..... and Swisher

September Chewy Review

Our September Chewy review box came!

Sometimes Mom chooses the items, and sometimes she lets us choose them. We chose them this time.

We chose the Merrick Jerky Strips. We've tried other jerky strips before, and we've had good experience with Merrick products in the past, so we thought these would be a good fit for us.
In case the light blue highlighted link doesn't work, here's the link to the treats from Chewy... http://www.chewy.com/dog/merrick-natural-chicken-real-cuts/dp/54022

 And we were right!
Swisher gobbled it up so fast without a second thought. He didn't even let the camera focus on him. Bol.

Oakley on the other hand, likes to sniff and lick before he tries anything.
Outcome was the same, he gobbled it up right after inspection.

REIVEW:
Pros:
1. Very good tasting. We got the chicken flavor, but they have beef and beef liver as well.
2. Use highest quality of ingredients. Nothing artificial.
3. Rich in nutrients.
4. Made in the USA
5. Fair price.

Cons:
1. If this can even be considered a con, it doesn't come in a resealable bag.

Thank you Chewy and thank you Merrick for a great product!

Lots of satisfied licks,
Swisher and Oakley

Dog Wash

Mom and Aunt V went to a festival in town and saw a pet booth. There was a spinning wheel and you could win prizes. Mom spun, and she won a coupon for a free dog wash at a local pet store. Aunt V spun, and what do you know?, she won a free dog wash coupon too! I'll give you three guesses where Mom and Aunt V took us? Yup.. the dog wash!

We shop at the pet store, but never had used the pet bathing area. There's a huge tub and its got movable shower spouts.

We brought our own I Love Pet Head shampoo.

This isn't so bad. It's kind of like our tub at home.

How do I look guys? So fresh and so clean.

                                                                     My turn to dry off.
There's a pet hair dryer in the background. Mom tried it on me, but I was a bit scared of it. It was VERY loud.

Next up was Oakley.
Uh...I don't know about this guys.
Activate: Cautious Claws!

Nope. Not going in there. It's too far down.

Oh hey, this water is nice and warm. Maybe it's not that bad after all.

Uh, Mom someone is watching me shower.

Oakley: Hey dude..what's up?
Big Dog: Yo, how much longer you think you'll be?
Oakley: Oh I'm almost done. Just gonna dry off.
Big Dog: Cool. You smell great.
Oakley:  Thanks!

 Hey! Where did everyone go?

Mom tried the dog dryer on me.

It was loud, but I liked the way it felt.

That wasn't so bad. Thanks Pet Extreme. See ya later!

Lots of clean licks,
Swisher and Oakley
