Swisher's Lucky #7

Hi everyblogger...

Monday was my birthday. I turned the big lucky numero 7! I sure don't feel 7. Ok maybe sometimes I feel 7. Like at the dog walk last weekend. But other than that, I'm a very young 7. I wanted to share with everyone how my Lucky #7 birthday went. I guess I better learn how to surf because my birthday celebrating came in waves.

First wave: Bark Box.

Mom ordered us a Bark Box! We had seen some of our other fur pals get Bark Boxes too and we begged and pleaded and finally Mom ordered us one without telling us. And luckily for me, it came the week before my birthday. So Mom said that was my birthday present. I don't see how it's my birthday present when I have to share with my brother, but I'm not picky.

It came with all kinds of pawesome stuff! Check it out!

 A rope toy.

 A crunchy duck chew.

Mom let us try that right away.

 A stuffed bone.

Some dehydrated duck treats.

A grooming mitt, liquid vitamins, and coupons.
This bark box came with some pretty cool items. And it's not the only one we're getting. Mom signed up for a 3 month subscription. So that means we're still going to be able to get two more boxes. We get one a month. You're able to sign up for different size boxes; for small, medium or large dogs. Mom got us the medium size box.

Second wave: My Birth-DAY.

Aunt V came over with presents and ingredients to make me a cake! Like a real dog cake! So while the cake was baking, we opened presents.

She got me a card and two stuffies.

And a doggy balloon.
(Note to balloon designing people: You guys need Pug, and Boston T, balloons. If you need a model, call me.)

Mom kinda felt bad about the whole having to share the Bark Box with Oakley for my birthday, she bought me this corduroy zebra just for me.

After presents it was time for dinner. Typically we have pizza parties for our birthdays, but we had pizza a couple days prior to my birthday so we went with something a little different this year. We got KFC for dinner instead and ordered boneless chicken bites.

After dinner it was time for cake. This is the cake Aunt V made me. Doesn't it look delicious? It's got peanut butter as frosting and bacon bits as sprinkles. It made the whole house smell SO GOOD!

Mom and Aunt V sang Happy Birthday to me.
Oakley hid from the fire. Bol.

After they sang to me, we had cake. Well me and Oak had cake. Oak was being super picky and wasn't sure about wanting cake, so I started to eat his cake. And then he got a sad face because I ate his cake, so then Mom gave him some more.

Oakley: And while Swisher sits in the kitchen for hours, waiting for Mom or Aunt V to give him more cake, I'm hoarding all the toys he got for his birthday. Bol.

Third wave: Birthday leftover breakfast

Remember the food strike ordeal? Well there wasn't any of that the next day. We got left over birthday cake mixed in with our kibble the next day. Peanut butter and bacon bits galore!

I had a great birthday. I can't wait for next year!

Lots of licks,
Swisher

Wag n' Walk 2013

This past Saturday we woke up early and got ready in our Oakland A's jerseys and headed out to Monterey. It's that time of year again.
Oakley: It's early. I'm still sleepy.

It's the Monterey County Wag n' Walk. A fundraiser that consists of a 2-4 mile walk to help raise money and awareness for homeless, abused and neglected animals in our community.

This is our 5th year in a row doing the Walk. It's always fun to meet new furiends. Especially furiends that look us. We saw a pack of pugs before the walk. One black pug and two fawn pugs. Kinda like Swisher when he was born, he was the only black pug.

We meet big furiends.

Little furiends.

Even tiny furiends, that have a circus on wheels to live in!

We saw look-a-like furiends.

 And we met Pug-gerfly furiends.

The first year we did the walk it was raining. Every year after that has been warm. We get so excited even before we get off the car, by the time the walk starts, we're already tired. This is one of our own private pit stops.

We did do some walking though. Some all terrain walking at that. Sometimes it's fun to explore off the trail.

And some of us, who will remain nameless, did less walking and spent more time being carried.

Swish: Aw yeah Mom. You're the best.

Aunt V  helped carry him for a while too to give Mom's arms a rest.

After the walk, we head back towards the starting area where they hand out sack lunches with yummy treats in them. Here Mom is sharing her Doritos with us.

Mom got creative and used this free frisbee we got as a water bowl.

During our lunch break, this little girl thought we were cute in our jerseys so she asked if she could come over and pet us and say Hi. We said of course!

After lunch, Mom gave it another shot with me and the agility course that is set up there. She thought using treats and having a professional and fur-essional there, it would give me the courage to walk up the big A frame. Nope.
 I wasn't scared. I just didn't want to.

Of course Swish will do almost anything for a treat, and he's a show off.

So he walked up that A frame and through this long slinky tunnel like it was a just a regular walk.

So to prove that I wasn't scared...

...I made my way across this Dog Walk.

And for kicks and giggles, I jumped over this hurdle for the fun of it.

The Wag n' walk is always so much fun. We look forward to it every year and can't wait until next year to do it again.
We heard Mom and Aunt V talking about a wagon for Swish next year. We'll see how that goes.

Food Strike Gone Wrong

These are our bowls of food. This is where Aunt V found our bowls of food earlier in the week when she came over. Why are they on the counter you ask? Good question. Because we didn't eat them in the morning when Mom served them to us before work. Why not? Because we're spoiled dogs taking a stand!

Mom usually adds stuff to our kibble. It could be wet food, pumpkin, yogurt, scrambled eggs, even shredded cheese. Do you see any of those yummy items in our bowls? No.

We are not amused by our food, so we haven't been eating it. So that means we go the whole day without eating. If we're lucky, Mom will give us a few treats or a bone to eat. We end up getting hungry by the end of the day, and we have no choice but to eat our boring food.
This has been going on for over a week already, and it's messing up our eating schedule. We're not sure why Mom stopped giving us extra toppings in our food. We did hear her say something about not wanting to  spend money on two types of foods. Whatever.

The other day Mom didn't feed us at all. Well, she gave us treats and bones and table scraps so our bellies wouldn't be completely empty and she said she was gonna feed us in the morning like usual.

So we had to wait.

The next morning it was no different. Same food. No toppings. But we were so hungry we ate anyway.
Oak: I thought we were still on strike?
Swish: Forget that, I'm starving. Mom's not budging.

Oak: Fine! But I'm gonna eat piece by piece to show Mom I'm still upset.
Swish: Good luck with that.

Mom said after we start eating our food like normal and stop stressing her out and giving her problems, she'll go back to giving us yummy toppings on our food once and while as a treat. Guess we'll be eating.

Happy Keaster!

We didn't have big plans for Easter this year. We mainly spent the day with Mom and Aunt V.

Later in the evening, we all went on a long walk down to the 711.

On our way back, we found a shopping basket someone had left.

Swisher: Hey this is pawesome!

Oakley: Uh, I don't know about this.
Swisher: Hey Mom, can you push me down the hill?

Swisher: This is like our very own go kart!

Swisher: C'mon Oakley, cheer up. We don't have to walk. We can just get pushed all the way home.
Oakley: I'd rather walk. This isn't exactly the Easter basket I had in mind.

We ended up walking the rest of the way home, but it was a short fun adventure!
Hope you all had a fun and Happy Keaster!

Surprise Park Day

So last week, Aunt V dog napped me.

It's not as scary as it sounds though. Turns out Mom said she was going to be a little late coming home, so she asked Aunt V to come hang with me and Swish. It was a nice day, so she said "C'mon Oak, let's go."

She put me in the back seat of her car without a word.

After a short drive and a very delicious familiar smell...I knew exactly where we were!
McDonald's! Yes I started crying in the car out of excitement.

Aunt V was nice and shared her cheeseburger with me.

And gave me a couple of fries when we finally got to our 2nd stop.

The dog park! OMD!
It's been a while since we've came because of the weather.
Feels so good to run free! And I say free because I had the entire park to myself.

Then something happened that we don't see a lot of, a Boston Terrier puppy came to the park.
Her Mom was equally excited to see me. She says she's never seen another Boston here before.

Her name was Jax. She had a lot of energy and was a little fire cracker, but we got along great. Not to mention that she has the same name as my middle name.
We played fetch together. She's pretty fast for a young gal, but I was faster. I was being a gentledog and I would let her get the ball and bring it back. It was time to go, so we said hopefully we get to play again sometime. But I told her don't get any ideas, I already have a girlfriend.

Thanks Aunt V for the fun surprise.
Aunt V said she felt bad that she didn't bring Swish, especially since the park was empty. But keeping her eyes on two dogs can be tough. Next time we'll all go. Hopefully my brother doesn't read this post. He won't mind too much about the dog park, but he's gonna be bummed about McD's. I trust you guys can keep that a secret.

Happy St. Pup's Day!

"It's St. PATRICK'S Day, Oak!" -Swisher

"Oh. Who's Patrick?" -Oakley

"I dunno. Probably the owner of these ties." -Swisher

"Well then why are we wearing them?" -Oakley

"Good question." -Swisher

Anyway, we wanted to say Happy St. Paw-ty's Day to our Lovely Ladies, Kitty and Coco!...

...and the rest of you out there in Blogville. Eat something green!
